‘Inspiring Independent Learners with Jesus by our Side’

English Zone

We have lots of talented readers and writers here at St Bede's and throughout the year they will develop their skills further through lessons, activities, trips and performances. In the English Zone, you will find pictures celebrating the children's achievements and experiences (in Reading newsletters) as well as some useful documents about our English curriculum at St Bede's.

Writing at St Bede's

Across the school, we are following the Literacy Company's Pathways to Write. Each unit looks at a different genre of writing and provides children with a range of reading and writing opportunities as well as allowing them to take part in lots of fun, hands on learning to develop their writing skills. You can view the overview of texts in the files to download section below.

Children will write poetry, fiction and non-fiction pieces throughout the year and will develop their grammatical skills in each unit through their English and reading sessions as well as discrete grammar sessions.
