‘Inspiring Independent Learners with Jesus by our Side’

Year 2 2021 - 2022

Mr Armstrong

Year 2

A huge WELCOME to everyone in Year 2 this year.

We hope you are ready and excited to get back to school and start the next chapter of our learning together.

To start with, here is a reminder of things that you may need to know about how the school will be working on our return after Easter.

READING BOOKS--Are being changed and checked every day, please bring book bags in daily.

HOME SCHOOLING HELP if you are isolating. In addition to below, x3 daily lessons will be provided through Microsoft Teams. Log in details can be found at the back of your child's Reading Journal:

These following websites have a bank of lessons, videos and activities for you to continue your child’s learning at home. However, these lessons are no longer daily.

Oak National Academy   https://classroom.thenational.academy/subjects-by-year/year-2

BBC Bitesize   https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/z7s22sg/year-2-and-p3-lessons

White Rose Maths  https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/  These videos follow what we are teaching at school but you will no longer have access to the worksheets. Nevertheless you can still answer questions on the presentations and maybe do some practical activities instead. Spelling shed, MyMaths, Numbots, timestable rockstars and Purple Mash challenges will also be available. Log in details will be shared with children and sent home.

MORNING DROP OFF

At 0850, with children expected to be in class working by 0900.

PICK UP AT THE END OF THE DAY – 3.20 pm

UNIFORM:

Children should come to school in full uniform.  For details, please visit the 'Parents' tab of the website and look at the 'uniform shop' - 'school uniform guide'. It is essential that ALL uniform is named as we will be unable to rummage through the lost property at this time. Summer uniform can now be worn too.

WHAT TO BRING INTO SCHOOL:

Water bottle - filled with clean water each day.

Coat or hat/cap (depending on the weather) which must be named.

You may also bring the following, if you wish:

A pencil case.

Hand sanitiser or soap if your child cannot use those provided in school. This can be kept in their tray or by the sink but must be labelled with their name.

A healthy snack for play time. However, free fruit will be available for our children at morning break as usual. No chocolate please.

A packed lunch in a lunchbox, if your child is not having a school meal. Please note that Year 2 children are all entitled to a free school meal.

WHAT NOT TO BRING:

PE bag - see below.

Money for snack - as the school kitchen will not be providing any snack at this time.

Toys or items to 'share'.

PE KIT:

For the time being the children will continue to come to school in their PE days. We will be changing our PE days this next half term, and now be doing PE on a Monday and Wednesday.

On PE days the children will need to come to school dressed in their white PE t-shirt (with school logo or a plain t-shirt), green shorts, socks and trainers. They may also wear a plain, dark coloured tracksuit. (The top will probably be needed every week but the wearing of trousers or shorts will depend on the comfort of your child and the weather). Please note that for dance and gym lessons on Wednesdays the children must take part in t-shirt and shorts so these must be worn on these days.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with the school via email or catch us on the door at the end of the day.
