Year 1
WELCOME to our Year 1 class page.
HOME-LEARNING UPDATE (Tuesday 5th December): Well it seems we are back in lockdown for the next 6 weeks so we are here to help you as best we can. A letter has now been sent home, detailing the Home-learning arrangements for the next few weeks. In Year 1, we will be using Tapestry to set 3 'Planned Activities' each day. These will include one English, one Maths and one other activity, which could be based around RE, Topic, Science, Computing, Music etc. Once you have comepleted these tasks with your child, please can you upload your observations and link them to the correct activity to enable us to quickly locate every child's work for each lesson.
Additional Activities:
Reading - please read as much as possible with your child.
Spelling Shed - The children will shortly be given new, individualised sets of words to practice on spelling shed. Please use this resource as frequently as you like, but at least once per week. As before the holidays, we will check your child's progress weekly and update the words when they are ready.

Phonics - Please complete one lesson per day. Each week, specific lessons will be selected for the children to complete and links will be sent via Tapestry.
Please also look at the lists of 'useful links' below.
If you need any further help or advice then please do not hesitate to contact us via Tapestry or email.
Many thanks and take care,
Mrs Brady and Mrs Meadows

BBC Bitesize https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/zjpqqp3/year-1-and-p2-lessons

If you have to collect more than one child, please arrive at the pick-up time for your oldest child and the other family members will be brought out to you.
Please follow the one-way system in place at the end of each day.
To reduce numbers on site, please limit the collection of your child to one adult, where possible.
UNIFORM:
Children should wear full uniform. Autumn 1 uniform can be either Summer uniform or Winter uniform. For details, please visit the 'Parents' tab of the website and look at the 'uniform shop' - 'school uniform guide'. It is essential that ALL uniform is named as we will be unable to rummage through the lost property at this time. Please also consider short sleeved shirts to enable easier handwashing.
WHAT TO BRING INTO SCHOOL:
Water bottle - filled with clean water each day.
Coat or hat (depending on the weather) which must be named.
Book bags on MONDAYS and THURSDAYS only please.
You may also bring the following, if you wish:
A healthy snack for play time. However, free fruit will be available for our children at morning break as usual.
A packed lunch in a lunchbox, if your child is not having a school meal. Please note that Year 1 children are all entitled to a free school meal.
WHAT NOT TO BRING:
PE bag - see below.
Money for snack - as the school kitchen will not be providing any snack at this time.
Toys or items to 'share'.
Face coverings/masks.
PE KIT:
For the time being the children will come to school in their PE days. Our PE days are TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS (although we will give the children many chances to be active every day).
On PE days the children will need to come to school dressed in their white PE t-shirt (with school logo or a plain t-shirt), green shorts, socks and trainers. They may also wear a plain, dark coloured tracksuit. (The top will probably be needed every week but the wearing of trousers or shorts will depend on the confort of your child and the weather).
If you have any questions, please get in touch with the school via email or catch us on the door at the end of the day. Many thanks for your support.
Mrs Brady, Mrs Meadows and Miss Hart.
