Year 1 2021 - 2022
Mrs Brady
Year 1
WELCOME to Year 1!
This year Year 1 will be taught by Mrs Brady and we will have support from our new teaching assistant Miss Sutton. Mrs Fearnley will also be teaching Year 1 on a Wednesday afternoon.
We have already been busy doing lots of work so please take a look at the gallery page or on Tapestry. Homework will also be posted each week on the homework tab above. An overview of the topics we will be covering in each subject this term can be found in the 'Files to download' section below.
As we return to our Pre-Covid routines, here is a reminder of some of the timings and changes to what you will have beed used to in Reception:
MORNING DROP OFF:
Everyone should arrive between 8.50am and 9am. Please come down the driveway with your child and they will then enter school via the playground. Anyone arriving late (after 9am) should go to the school office where they will be let in the front door.
COLLECTION:
All children will now be going home at 3.20pm. Children should be collected from the playground via the KS1 door.
UNIFORM:
Children should wear full school uniform. Autumn 1 uniform can be either Summer uniform or Winter uniform. For details, please visit the 'Parents' tab of the website and look at the 'uniform shop' - 'school uniform guide'. It is essential that ALL uniform is named as unnamed items take much longer to reunite with their owner. Please can I also ask that you regularly check the names in your child's uniform throughout the year to check their name is still visible and in case they bring home the wrong child's clothing. This will also help speed up the return of lost clothing to their rightful owner.
PE KIT:
This year the children will come to school in their PE kit on our PE days. Our PE days are TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS.
Our PE kit should include: a white PE t-shirt (with school logo or a plain t-shirt), green shorts, socks and trainers. Green PE hoodies and joggers are also now available via the school website. (The top will probably be needed every week but the wearing of trousers or shorts will depend on the comfort of your child and the weather). Please ensure your child always has a pair of green PE shorts either on under their joggers or in their book bag so that they may work in t-shirts and shorts for PE.
WHAT TO BRING INTO SCHOOL:
Water bottle - filled with clean water each day.
Coat or hat (depending on the weather) which must be named.
Book bags.
(Pencil cases are NOT needed this year.)
You may also bring the following, if you wish:
A healthy snack for play time. However, free fruit will be available for our children at morning break as usual.
A packed lunch in a lunchbox, if your child is not having a school meal. Please note that Year 1 children are all entitled to a free school meal.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with the school via email on jbrady@st-bedes.cheshire.sch.uk or catch me in the playground at the end of the day. Many thanks for your support.
