Our week----January 8th!

Date: 14th Jan 2018 @ 5:00pm

A busy first week back! Despite the weather, the children enjoyed their first PE tennis session on Monday afternoon where we looked at the fore-hand. As expected for this time of year it was quite chilly, so if children wish to bring jogging bottoms for PE when we are outdoors that is fine.

On Tuesday we began our investigation into Ancient Egypt, and starting by looking at their writing system. We discovered they wrote using pictures/symbols called hieroglyphics. In class we then had a go at cracking a hieroglyphic code, before creating our own 'Cartouche' which featured our names using hieroglyphics!

During our Mass last week the children were encouraged to go up for a blessing with the aim of them becoming more included and familiar with the process of Holy Communion, as some of them have now begun their sacramental preparation. Starting this week we will begin to find out about the Sacrament of Reconciliation in our RE work which will be geared towards this sacramental preparation too.

For this coming week a reminder that children do need PE kits in everyday and we will be doing PE on Monday and Friday. The children will also be writing and sharing performance poems in class so when reading with them at home encourage them to focus on their expression and volume (or even try a poetry book!).

This week's homework----Egyptian Gods task. The Ancient Egyptians had a huge range of Gods in their culture. For their homework, the children have to select and research their favourite God then create a profile about them in their red books.
