Our week----January 22nd!

Date: 28th Jan 2018 @ 12:28pm

The weeks continue to fly by! This past week during RE we have been looking at the story of Zaccheaus the tax collector. The children examined the story in detail considering the varying emotions of Jesus, Zacchaeus and the crowd throughout, before writing their own 1st person recounts through the eyes of a character of their choice. I was very impressed with the childrens ability to articulate what they felt the message of the story was, and its link to reconciliation.

In PSHE this week we considered, 'How am I clever?'. Each child selected what they felt was their main strength, then worked in a group with other who made the same choice to produce a piece of work linked to this. Amongst the results was a mathematical presentation on how much it would cost to re-stock the whole classroom if it was destroyed and also a brilliant song about using your talents.

Finally, we have also begun our next Literacy block of work, As its focus is the story 'Egyptian Cinderella' by Shirley Climo. This past week we started by recalling the original Cinderella story and its features, before looking at our new text and making predictions about the similarities and differences between it and the story we know.

Looking ahead to next week, on Monday we will be at Liverpool World Museum for our Ancient Egypt Day. We will depart after register and should be back for the end of the normal school day. Children should be in uniform, and bring with them coats and disposable packed lunches, nothing else will be needed e.g. diaries, reading books etc. On Friday we will be enjoying a whole school 'Maths Day'. This will involve both whole class workshop activities, and some fun games in class! Lastly, it is essential that any unreturned Winmarleigh medical forms come back in this week please.

This week's homework----Multiplication problems. The children will get a set of word problems linked to multiplication. I encourage them to use pictures and drawings when working out the answers if required. Due in by Monday Feb 5th.
