Our week----January 15th!

Date: 20th Jan 2018 @ 5:39pm

Would like to start with a well done for the children for their performance poetry work on Friday afternoon. This week the class had written performance poems using features such as rhyme, rhythm, humour, word-play, and repetiton. I was very impressed with the final products shared on Friday and I know the children enjoyed performing as well as being in the audience listening and watching their peers.

We also moved onto the next stage of our multiplication work, and have now started at looking at multiplying 2 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers, using the times tables we know. We will be using various pictorial and concrete methods to support the children in class, including the bar model, as we continue to develop this skill.

Looking ahead to next week we will be kicking on with our new RE, Science and History topics as well as starting something new in Literacy. On Tuesday over half of the children will be representing the school in the choir at Young Voices. I know they have been practicing hard and will be brilliant. For the children not going we will be combining with Year 4 and doing some work looking ahead to our upcoming residential. On Wednesday we will be holding a parent drop in for any parents wishing to discuss the residential, this will be at 1530-1630 in the Year 3 classroom. If you have not yet returned your child's updated medical form linked to the visit please can this be done ASAP. Thank you,

This week's homework----Spellings=Apostrophe for contraction--haven't, couldn't, they've, she'll, doesn't. Can children find more examples at home? Times-tables=x6. No set task in the red book this week.
