Homework

Each week your child should be doing the following at home:

  • Reading with an adult.  The children will bring home a phonics reading book every Friday to read at least 4 times that week. They may also bring home 'sharing books' which may be higher than their own reading level. These should be read by or with an adult.
  • Please also check on Oxford Owl for your latest eBook.

English Homework - Reading Rivers

What have you been reading over the summer holiday?

Create a ‘Reading River’ to share the different things you have read over the holiday. You can add details through writing, drawing or cutting and sticking pictures, photographs and labels.

You may create your own ‘Reading River’ in your homework book or create a family one!

Remember, reading is not just story books. Think carefully about what you have read. This might include

  • Newspapers
  • Instructions or manuals
  • Online reading
  • Games
  • Menus
  • Road signs
  • Apps
  • Labels

Be inventive, read lots and have fun!

Here are some examples by the teachers:
