Welcome to Year 2!

On 26th March, as part of the Year 2 Science and PSHE curriculums, the children learned the NSPCC’s Underwear Rule using the ‘PANTS’ acronym. If you would like to know more about the NSPCC’s Underware Rule programme, information can be found at

We have had a super start to the year and have learned so much already but we have lots more instore throughout the year. For information about what we are learning each term please refer to the curriculum letters at the bottom of the page.

Please ensure you check your child's book bag daily for important information and letters.

The teachers in Year 2 are Mrs Burgoyne and Mrs Brady. Mrs Brady is in class on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and Mrs Burgoyne is in class on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Year 2 will also be suppported by Mrs Rudkin and Mrs Parker at different times throughout the week.

End of day collection

If your child is going home with someone other than a parent/carer please make sure a note is passed over on the door or is put in the child's reading journal.

Please ensure your child is dressed smartly and appropriately. The parents uniform shop, which is located under the parents tab on the website, will provide you with more information about the standard of uniform we expect in our school. Also, please make sure all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Labelled PE kits should be brought into school on a Monday and kept in school for the whole week. Kits will then be taken home on a Friday. Children will need a pair of socks in their kits along with a pair of shorts, t-shirt and trainers. Warmer clothing may be worn for outdoor activities in the winter.

Homework will be given out every 2 weeks on a Monday and will be due in the following Monday. This will be one piece of either Maths, Literacy, Science, Topic or RE in their red homework books. For the second week, the children will be asked to concentrate on times tables, spellings and reading. The children will also recieve one piece of phonics homework per week. For Mrs Brady and Mrs Burgoyne's group, this will be set on the Spelling Shed website.

Reading Journals

Children should be reading daily at home. Please use the reading journal to record what your child has read and any comments you wish to make.

If you have any queries please contact Mrs Burgoyne or Mrs Brady.
